If it’s your first time in Legian, it can be a bit of a trial finding things to see and do other than the beach and nightlife around this reasonably small area. That’s why we’ve come up with this quick guide that gives you some ideas on places you can head to. It includes ideas for those who want to shop and explore, as well as the more common activities of dancing and drinking the night away in this popular bar and nightclub-filled hub.
Beyond Legian’s legendary bars, sand and surf, there’s much you can do. Set between laidback Kuta and upscale Seminyak, this area has a good mix of attractions, all within easy reach of each other. Away from the beach streets, leisurely walks along the main Jalan Legian route present you with rows of art shops and restaurants, while Kuta’s recreational and shopping highlights are just minutes away. Here’s a few ideas to help plan your first time in Legian.
Legian at a Glance
Legian is mostly known as one of Bali’s main nightlife hubs, with loads of clubs and bars to choose from. Located between laidback Kuta and upmarket Seminyak, the small area combines the atmospheres of both. The result is the ideal mid-range destination, which is both less crowded than Kuta and less expensive than Seminyak. The white sand of Legian Beach itself is also among the star attractions.
WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT LEGIAN:
Between Kuta and Seminyak, providing plenty of options
Bali’s nightlife hub, with a good mix of nightclubs and bars
Hotels available for a wide range of budgets
Less crowded than Kuta
WHAT IS LESS GOOD:
Maze-like streets, with mostly one-way traffic
Venues are widely spaced and walking is often required
Legian, like many Bali destinations, has a fantastic beach. Its lovely golden sand leads into a beautiful blue sea, with some pretty good surfing conditions. Inland, there are a few fun things to see and do around the town, both for families and thrill seekers. Admittedly, the list of attractions here is not as long as it is for other areas of Bali. However, we strongly recommend you check out these places during your first visit to Legian.
